Senate Bill 131 regarding HEMP production in Kentucky was introduced by Sen. Joey Pendleton (D) on February 12, 2009. It will require anyone wanting to grow or process industrial hemp to be licensed by the Department of Agriculture and was referred to the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee on February 23, 2009.

The text of this legislation is available at http://www.kentuckyvotes.org.

Go to the search bills and enter SB 131 and it will bring it up for you to review.

Of note, I created an account on this website so I could post a reply.  However, to date, I have not been able to log into the site.  I am not sure of the cause.  But please take time to go to the site and post your response on this issue.  It is a huge issue for farmers.  And to the sovereignty of our state!

Kentucky was the number one producer of Hemp during the Civil War and WWII.

Hopefully, along with the Hemp issue we will be able to introduce legislation for "Medical Marijuana" in the near future.
