Please Support Barney Frank's Personal Use of Marijuana Act!

Each year, more than 700,000 people are arrested for marijuana offenses, costing American taxpayers more than $7 billion annually. Despite this, marijuana is still easily available, both to adults and minors. Through a controlled system of taxation and regulation, we can take money out of the pockets of drug dealers and more effectively limit youth access to marijuana.

Shouldn't we focus our country's resources on important priorities instead of continuing a wasteful war on marijuana?

America is currently experiencing a crisis of overcrowding in our criminal justice system. Approximately 1 out of every 100 Americans is currently incarcerated. A large number of these inmates are non-violent drug offenders. It's time we made room for real criminals, rather than incarcerating people for minor marijuana offenses.

I urge you to support The Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act. I will be immensely grateful. Thank you.

I HAVE PERSONALLY READ THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FROM BARNEY FRANK AND I AGREE TO THE FULLEST IN THE PASSAGE OF THIS BILL.

IT IS WRONG TO CAUSE LEGAL HARM TO SOMEONE WHOSE ONLY "ILLEGALITY" IS FROM SMOKING MARIJUANA - WHICH HAS BEEN PROVEN TO SHOW HEALTH MAINTENANCE BENEFITS.

THE WAR ON THIS DRUG WAS INSTITUTED FOR THE SOLE WILL OF A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHICH INCLUDED ANSLINGER, BACK IN 1937 FOR A PURPOSE WHICH WAS AN INDUSTRIAL WAR OF SORTS. MEANING, IF MARIJUANA HAD NEVER BEEN MADE ILLEGAL, WE WOULD STILL BE USING MARIJUANA AND HEMP, WHICH IS A PLANT THAT COULD EFFECTIVELY "CHANGE THE WORLD".

THERE ARE MANY GROUPS THAT ARE WATCHING TO SEE WHAT THEIR ELECTED LEADERS ARE GOING TO DO TO THEIR RIGHTS AS CITIZENS OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY. BOTH ON THIS ISSUE AND MANY OTHERS ALSO.

AND ALSO, WHAT GIVES THE GOVERNMENT TO REGULATE ANY TYPE OF "PLANT" WHICH WAS HERE BEFORE WE WERE AND WILL MOST LIKELY BE HERE WHEN WE ARE GONE. IT IS NOT RIGHT TO TAKE SOMETHING GIVEN FROM GOD AND TAKE IT AWAY FROM US SO THAT SOMEONE ELSE, I.E., PHARMACEUTICALS, AND INDUSTRIALISTS CAN MAKE MONEY - WHICH IS ALWAYS THE ROOT OF THE EVIL.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS BILL VERY CAREFULLY.
